Long story short: tell your Congressfolk to end forced arbitration and expand the Child Tax Credit and food stamps. Use the tools in the upper right-hand corner of this page (or, if you're on a cellphone, the bottom of this page) to find your Congressfolk's phone numbers and/or use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs.
Americans for Financial Reform helps you tell your Congressfolk to pass the Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal (or FAIR) Act. Because forced arbitration is an injustice! Corporations used forced arbitration clauses to herd people with legitimate disputes into arbitration hearings where they almost always lose, instead of a court of law, where they're far more likely to win. Ignore those who say "people win more money in arbitration than in court," because people don't win, period, often enough for that to mean a damn.
The Coalition on Human Needs helps you tell your Congressfolk to expand the Child Tax Credit (or CTC). You know the drill: Democrats in Congress enacted a major expansion of the CTC in 2021 which put $250 and $300 checks per child, every month, into working families' bank accounts. And then Republicans plus Joe Manchin let it expire, because we can't have nice things in America. CHN will help you advocate for a return of sizable monthly checks in your email to Congress.
Finally, the National Women's Law Center helps you tell your Congressfolk to improve, not cut, the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, or SNAP, better known as food stamps. Because any one of us could fall on hard times as quickly as we get hit by a car or let a major health problem go one day too long because we're working all the time, so brook no silliness about Those People Who Get Food Stamps. And brook no silliness about "rampant fraud," either. The solution to fraud is prosecute and jail the fraudsters, not take food out of the mouths of good Americans.
