Long story short: tell our CFPB to end junk fees in the mortgage industry, tell your Governor to pardon all marijuana convictions, and tell big pharma corporations to stop suing Medicare over drug price negotiation. Use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs to communicate your will.
Matt Stoller writes about the “credit bureau cartel” – we had 2000 credit bureaus in America as late as 1970, but now we have three, and they hamstring a lot of business in America, though not as much, even, as FICO scores do, since FICO has a monopoly over credit scoring so it jacks up mortgage-related fees at will. That’s why their profits are soaring while interest rates are still so high that fewer people want to buy houses! Our Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has proposed capping junk fees relating to the mortgage industry, and you can leave a comment with them here.
Civic Shout helps you tell your Governor to pardon all marijuana convictions. A lot of right-wing Governors will resist, of course, but not all of them, since they can put their finger to the wind as well as anyone else and find that folks just aren’t as tight-ass about pot as they used to be. And marijuana is legal in enough places now that it seems cruel to keep such folks in jail, plus a pot conviction can doom you to a lifetime of rejection from employers and lenders and renters. Also too, we know that the right concocted the “War on Drugs” to better oppress Black people. Don’t take my word for it: take John Ehrlichman’s!
Finally, Health Care Voices helps you tell big pharma corporations to stop trying to sue Medicare to stop Medicare drug-price negotiation. Yes, big pharma corporations are still suing Medicare so they can force good Americans to pay usurious prices for medications forever, though, seriously, imagine taking that to the Pearly Gates! Yes, St. Peter, I did all I could to make sure people paid more for their life-saving medications, and I bankrupted a lot of people doing that! Always remember when professional haters claim you’re “just jealous” of rich folks that you actually have a lot to be angry about!
