Long story short: tell your Congressfolk to reject attempts to expand the “war on terror” and invest more and better in housing policy. Use the tools in the upper right-hand corner of this page (or, if you're on a cellphone, the bottom of this page) to find your Congressfolk's phone numbers and/or use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs.
Defending Rights and Dissent helps you tell your Senators to reject S. 4136, which would allow our Treasury Secretary to suspend the tax-exempt status of “terrorist-supporting” organizations. So, to review: our government calls organizations “terrorist” (or “terrorist-supporting”) without even defining these terms and aims to injure them without due process, all of which is a way of saying they can’t win arguments and they don’t respect law and order. S. 4136 supposedly aims to go after “terrorist-supporting” Palestinian organizations, but you can see them using it to come after you, right? Yes, you can. So it’s time to communicate our will to our Senators.
The Coalition on Human Needs helps you tell your Congressfolk to invest in housing policy for-real for-real. Before President Reagan’s massive housing cuts in the ‘80s, we didn’t have a homelessness problem in America; now, with landlords extorting renters and banksters sucking up as much of the available housing supply as they can, we’ve got a homelessness problem like we’ve never had before. The housing policy increases we demand are hardly bank-breaking – our government routinely wastes more money on the F-35 fighter plane – and these hand-up-not-hand-out public investments will save lives and help good Americans live better lives. So let’s do it.
