Long story short: tell your Congressfolk to reject Medicare privatization, reject nationwide abortion bans, and reject cuts to services working families need and use. Use the tools in the upper right-hand corner of this page (or, if you're on a cellphone, the bottom of this page) to find your Congressfolk's phone numbers and/or use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs.
Demand Progress helps you tell your Congressfolk to reject any plan to privatize Medicare. Because they’ve been talking about that – 0ut loud, too, like it wouldn’t be the most unpopular thing ever. You know what happens when private corporations take over government functions – they start out well, then they gradually start costing more money (which generally gets delivered upward to their executives), then they don’t even provide better services for the extra expense. That third stage is where we are with the notorious Medicare Advantage! So we remind our Congressfolk that what belongs to us must stay with us.
Civic Shout helps you tell your Congressfolk to reject any nationwide abortion ban. Donald Trump supports a 16-week national ban – ha ha, he thinks that’s a “deal,” maybe he should ask Glenn Youngkin how well his proposed 15-week ban worked out for him – but, at the risk of sounding old-fashioned, abortion decisions should always be left between a woman and her doctor. Don’t right-wingers support leaving health care decisions between an American and their doctor? Or is that only when they’re fabricating lies about the Affordable Care Act? And not for nothing, but a national abortion bans would affect working families the most.
Finally, Coalition on Human Needs helps you demand that Congress reject any attempt to “cut deficits” on the backs of working families. It’s always the same damn thing with Republicans: squeal about the deficit whenever Democrats have any power after saying nothing about it when they run up deficits, and then demand cuts to food stamps, Medicaid, et cetera. Why not cut deficits by raising taxes on wealthy folks and corporations? Ha ha ha ha! Because they think wealthy folks and corporations are better than us little people! One day soon they’ll just come out and say so.
