Long story short: tell our government to scuttle the Dakota Access Pipeline, start going after corporate criminals, and enact automatic voter registration. Use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs to communicate your will.
The Native Alliance Organizers Fund helps you tell our Army Corps of Engineers to scuttle the notorious Dakota Access Pipeline. Word on the street is that the Corps essentially farmed out their proposal to a big oil corporation to write! And of course our government has already rerouted the pipeline so it wouldn’t pollute water where more white folks live (both in South Dakota and in Iowa!), and then violated treaties made with Native American nations (as well as our laws!) during its construction. At least a judge ordered the Corps to do another environmental review, after doing a shoddy one in advance of the pipeline’s 2016 approval; now we’ve got a chance to tell them what we think of it, again.
Public Citizen helps you tell your government to start going after corporate criminals a lot more vigorously. Sam Bankman-Fried got convicted of fraud, but that’s unusual; it’s almost always the little guy paying for some little crime while the big guys get away with big crimes. That’s the “weaponization of law enforcement,” not right-wing whining over how Donald Trump is somehow the “victim” of his 91 felony charges. They want to talk about “government going after political opponents”? All of us little guys are potential political opponents of Our Glorious Elites, so they come after us and leave each other alone. We should at least tell them we’re on to them.
Finally, the Daily Kos Democracy Project helps you tell your state government to enact automatic voter registration already. Why would they not? Because they want as few people to vote as possible, that’s why, and sadly I’ve found that true of Democratic governments as well as Republican ones. Fewer votes means fewer people to control! Remember that when they tell you they oppose automatic voter registration because it’ll “enable voter fraud.” You mean the “voter fraud” they can never convict anyone of? And keep in mind we live in a time where so, so much paperwork documents our every move, so don’t believe the “voter fraud” hype.
