When I hear that the entity behind the George W. Bush Presidential library spearheaded the letter (supported by 14 Presidential libraries) warning of dangers to American democracy, I can’t help but remind everyone that Tha Bush Mobb legally engineered a coup in Florida in 2000. And I’ve long thought Liz Cheney’s real problem with Donald Trump was that he was so awful at engineering a coup.
Oh FFS are Democrats really “worried” about Mitch McConnell’s health taking him out of the legislative picture? Have they been awake these last 15 years? Americans gave Barack Obama a mandate in 2008 to run America better than Republicans did, and Mitch McConnell nullified that mandate. Of course, this is how evil works – by making good people think it’s indispensable. Good people should at least remember that Democrats still have a Senate majority.
When I hear that Elon Musk has stiffed Twitter vendors and essentially dared them to sue him (which a lot of them are doing, and good for them), I am reminded that Donald Trump has stiffed more than one contractor. And when I contemplate the World’s Richest Man being so unwilling to pay so many bills, I can only imagine him saying how do you think I got so rich?
No, Republicans aren’t having trouble trying to message their abortion position – they’re having trouble dealing with the reality that the devastatingly effective term “pro-life” turned out to describe a broadly unpopular position, one which’ll only get more unpopular as more women have to deal with the fallout. They can say “pro-baby” or whatever all they want, but they can’t deny their extremism any longer. No, not even when they describe our position – which is, to sum, don’t get between a pregnant woman and her doctor – as “extreme.”
Finally, in case anyone needs a reminder after hearing that Georgia is using its expansive RICO law to go after protestors of the proposed Cop City police facility: no, organizing to protest a government’s actions isn’t the same as trying to overturn an election and nullify the will of the American people. I trust I don’t have to explain further. (Note well, also, that this RICO prosecution will likely fail – a lot of those charged don't even know each other, as you might expect – but it will also intimidate future protesters, which is probably its only goal anyway.)
