Long story short: tell your Congressfolk to enact a national paid family/medical leave program, confirm FCC nominees, and pass the Equality Act. Use the tools in the upper right-hand corner of this page (or, if you're on a cellphone, the bottom of this page) to find your Congressfolk's phone numbers and/or use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs.
Moms Rising helps you tell your Congressfolk to create a national paid sick/family medical leave program. Yeah, like House Republicans will do that! But, as always, it doesn’t matter what they want; it matters what we want, and we’ve never gotten anything of consequence without demanding it, and sometimes we have to demand it for years. Thus it’s always a good idea to tell your Congressfolk that you’d like the thing that virtually every other nation on Earth has – the peace of mind that if you or your family member gets sick, you won’t have to choose between your job and taking care of them. And if you want to tell them to bring back the 91% tax bracket to pay for it – not that it’d cost that much! -- feel free.
Free Press helps you tell your Senators to confirm FCC Commissioner nominees Geoffrey Starks and Anna Gomez. Mr. Starks is already an FCC Commissioner whose term is about to end, so Senators really have no standing to say he’s not qualified! Ms. Gomez ain’t Gigi Sohn, who was railroaded out of a job she clearly deserved by decidedly lesser individuals like Ted Cruz and Joe Manchin, but she’s good enough – hell, if Tom Wheeler was good enough (as he proved to be!), then certainly Ms. Gomez is good enough. And with a fully-staffed FCC, we can finally spend infrastructure money fairly and we can finally get net neutrality back. Our FCC hasn’t been fully-staffed since Mr. Biden’s inauguration, so let’s get to stepping.
Finally, Daily Kos helps you tell your Congressfolk to pass the Equality Act. Yeah, Republicans won’t do that, either! And worse, they’ll make up stupid stories about what it’ll supposedly do – that it’ll oppress girls in their own locker rooms (with the “onslaught” of trans girls the bill will call into existence!), or that boys will change sexes merely to dominate girls’ sports (like nobody remembers what they were like at that age!). But the Equality Act would actually prevent governments, banks, employers, and landlords from discriminating against gay and transgender folks, and that’s enough reason to pass it. That must be why they make up stupid stories about it! God forbid our government actually protect people, after all.
