Long story short: tell our EPA to curtail single-use plastic production, and tell our FTC to enact a vigorous “click-to-cancel” rule. Use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs to communicate your will.
Penn PIRG helps you tell our Environmental Protection Agency (or EPA) to enact the most vigorous plastic-reduction regulations possible. So far our EPA plans to stamp out the idea that converting plastic to fuel is “recycling” – fuel only gets used once, too! – but our EPA could do a better job stamping out single-use plastics, which cause a lot of pollution and health problems these days. We’ve only ever recycled about 10% of all the plastics we’ve made, and folks now ingest the equivalent of a credit card a week on average, so we’ve got to stop making so much damn single-use plastic in the first place. Doesn’t matter if it’s convenient! In America, we shouldn’t settle for mere convenience.
More Perfect Union helps you tell our Federal Trade Commission (or FTC) to enact the most vigorous “click-to-cancel” rule possible, so good Americans can get out of subscription-based services a lot more easily. Who wants to be paying for gym memberships and streaming services they’re not using but aren’t canceling because of the hoops they have to jump through to do that? I wonder what sort of comments corporate hacks will write to our FTC! Actually, I don’t: it’ll stifle innovation the burden of compliance costs we’ll have to fire people we can’t compete with foreign corporations. That’s all rubbish – but it’ll win the day if we don’t speak out.
