Long story short: tell our USPS Inspector General to allow public comments on Postmaster DeJoy’s nefarious plans to ruin our Postal Service, tell our FTC to stop the proposed Kroger/Albertsons merger, and tell President Biden to step up enforcement of the Endangered Species Act. Use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs to communicate your will.
Save the Post Office helps you tell our USPS Inspector General to allow public feedback on Postmaster General DeJoy’s proposed changes to our Postal Service. Said changes include slashed jobs, fewer services, and higher prices, which is what passes for bold leadership these days. But I bet the American people would offer actual bold leadership, by saying that shutting down Post Offices in rural areas means rural folks never get any deliveries (since private corporations sure don’t want to deliver there), and also by saying that folks rely on our USPS for life-saving medicines and so maybe cutting services ain’t such a “bold” idea. But we’ve got to speak out if we want to be heard.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest helps you tell our Federal Trade Commission (or FTC) to stop the proposed Kroger/Albertsons merger, so that grocery stores don’t become concentrated in even fewer corporate hands. This merger would put over 30 grocery brands under one umbrella, and when one decision-maker has that much power, bad things happen – bad things like lost jobs, closed stores, and higher prices. That all has real world consequences, unlike the pablum the monopolists spew forth, which is mostly about big corporations being more “efficient.” The only thing they do more efficiently is redistribute your income upward to their executives, and we have to stop that.
Finally, Endangered Species Act at 50 helps you tell President Biden to, well, make the Endangered Species Act great again. Described by one historian as “the Magna Carta of the environmental movement,” the ESA has saved over 50 species from extinction, including, famously, the bald eagle, grey wolf, and grizzly bear; that leaves only about a million species worldwide on the brink of extinction! Of course Republican Administrations – recently Mr. Trump’s, but also Bush the Lesser’s – have tried to bulldoze right over the Act by issuing new regulations that make enforcement a lot more lax, but the only people who want that are bosses, and they don’t get all the say in my America.
