Long story short: tell your Congressfolk to reject the Travel Mask Mandate Repeal Act, stop funding Israel’s oppression of Palestinians, and pass the FRESH START Through Bankruptcy Act. Use the tools in the upper right-hand corner of this page (or, if you're on a cellphone, the bottom of this page) to find your Congressfolk's phone numbers and/or use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs.
The National Campaign for Justice helps you tell your Congressfolk to reject the Travel Mask Mandate Repeal Act. Tired of wearing masks on public transit? Maybe you are and maybe you aren’t – me, I still like not getting sick! – but this bill represents yet another Republican attempt to go after an ant in the kitchen with a sledgehammer and not only miss the ant but destroy the refrigerator, because it would repeal all mask mandates and ensure only Congress can enact new ones. These clowns are about to crash the economy over nothing, so I sure wouldn’t trust them to do the job our CDC obviously does better even if you’re not completely happy with it.
The American Friends Service Committee helps you tell your Congressfolk to stop funding Israel’s oppression of Palestinians – if nothing else, Israel has more than enough funding and arms to keep stoking the cycle of violence there without our help – and Progress America helps you tell President Biden to fight the Netanyahu agenda, which includes enabling far right-wing racists and hamstringing courts. Most Presidents, Democrat or Republican, make noise about standing up to Israel every once in a while, and none of them ever do. And now the fascists are poised to take control of Israel! There’s a lesson in there, somewhere. And we have to make our government learn it.
Finally, Daily Kos helps you tell your Congressfolk to pass the FRESH START Through Bankruptcy Act, which would let folks discharge their student loan debt via bankruptcy after 10 years. Currently student loan debt is the only kind of debt that bankruptcy can’t help fix, which should help convince you that our bankruptcy system – “reformed” by Tha Bush Mobb in 2005 – is broken. Don’t let folks tell you this bill will induce “laziness” on the part of our youth – old folks have been calling young folks lazy since time immemorial! – because students can still get in trouble for not paying their loans during that decade they can’t declare bankruptcy.
