Long story short: tell your Congressfolk to pass the Stop Wall Street Looting Act and the Fourth Amendment is Not for Sale Act, and tell your Senators to pass the PRO Act. Use the tools in the upper right-hand corner of this page (or, if you're on a cellphone, the bottom of this page) to find your Congressfolk's phone numbers and/or use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs.
Americans for Financial Reform helps you tell your Congressfolk to pass H.R. 5648/S. 3022, the Stop Wall Street Looting Act. You know how banksters buy up corporations just to bleed them dry, putting people out of work and depriving others of services they need? The Stop Wall Street Looting Act would fix that, by protecting workers first when corporations go under and ending the hedge fund manager “carried interest” loophole, among other reforms. I know, I know, we’ve agitated for this bill for years, it seems like, and even Democratic Congresses never hold votes on it. But that doesn’t mean we give up – it means we get in their grills more about it.
Demand Progress helps you tell your Congressfolk to pass H.R. 2738/S. 1265, the Fourth Amendment is Not for Sale Act, which would prevent private data corporations from selling your personal data to law enforcement. If you think that’s not a problem now, you will when law enforcement uses the data they bought to go on fishing expeditions that ensnare you or someone you love! Because they’ll do that, sooner or later, if only to justify their existence. Demand Progress also points out that our own military has just bought software that will let them monitor some 90% of all internet traffic, and I would hope that nobody thinks our military should spy on us without a warrant.
Finally, the Daily Kos Liberation League helps you tell your Senators to pass H.R. 842/S. 420, the Protecting the Right to Organize (or PRO) Act. Good Americans are organizing for better working conditions like they haven’t done in years, but big corporations still herd them into mandatory anti-union meetings and then threaten the workers they can’t brainwash; the PRO Act would all that a lot harder. If bosses don’t want workers to unionize, they should try doing better by their workers, rather than saying there’s no money. Bosses say “there’s no money” because they take all the money! And that ain’t right when working families are trying to figure out which bill they can get away with not paying this month.
