Long story short: tell the Biden Administration to help more Americans get overtime protections, decriminalize pot at the federal level, and end offshore oil and gas drilling leases. Use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs to communicate your will.
More Perfect Union helps you tell President Biden to update our nation’s overtime rules so more good Americans can get overtime pay. You may also want to tell him to do better job than President Obama did; the Obama rule, overturned by a Texas District Court Judge late in 2016, essentially established the difference between workers with executive/administrative duties and workers without only by salary, when the rest of us establish that difference by, you know, looking at a worker’s actual duties. President Biden can avoid this by raising the pay threshold for overtime pay, without overreaching (or sabotaging!).
Progress America helps you tell President Biden to take marijuana off of Schedule I (and not move it to any other Schedule), which would essentially decriminalize pot at the federal level. This is exactly the wrong place to be a “law-and-order” politician – why, many right-wingers who fancy themselves “law-and-order” adherents actually support legalizing pot! And despite his reported misgivings, Mr. Biden promised on the campaign trail to “decriminalize marijuana, period,” “let out” anyone serving time for possession, and “expunge” the crime from everyone’s records; it’s really, really hard to find any wiggle room there. So he can start by descheduling pot.
Finally, Daily Kos helps you tell our Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Bureau (or BOEM) to end offshore oil and gas leases. Again, President Biden said he’d put an end to that, and his attempt to do so got overturned in court, but this public commenting process allows us to establish a body of evidence that might get the next oil/gas drilling lease ban through a court – our laws don’t allow our Executive branch to solicit public opinion and then simply ignore it, after all. Think we should keep drilling for oil and gas in the ocean? Then think of the Spillageddon in the Gulf slamming our shrimp industry in 2010. And think of oil/gas drilling killing our salmon industry in Alaska.
