Long story short: tell your Congressfolk to pass the Social Security 2100 Act, stop treating the crypto “industry” with kid gloves, and end our involvement in the war on Yemen. Use the tools in the upper right-hand corner of this page (or, if you're on a cellphone, the bottom of this page) to find your Congressfolk's phone numbers and/or use the email/petition tools in the following paragraphs.
Demand Progress helps you tell your Congressfolk to pass H.R. 5723/S. 3071, the Social Security 2100 Act. This bill would provide the kind of reforms Social Security really needs – like increasing benefits, adjusting cost-of-living increases more realistically, and taxing income over $400,000 into the system – versus the kind of “reforms” our “liberal” media says it needs, like cutting benefits and privatization so it can go up and down and up and down and up and down just like the stock market does. But people don't want Social Security to go up and down; they want it to be there, and do well by us, and the Social Security 2100 Act will help it do that better.
Americans for Financial Reform helps youtell your Congressfolk to avoid handing out corporate welfare to the crypto “industry.” Some call it my prejudice, but crypto ain’t real money, and “managing” it ain’t real work. How did crypto corporations spend $30 million lobbying Congress, then? Same way any elite does it: by rigging the rules to get far enough ahead so they can redistribute worker income upward to themselves and come up with new scams at will. Sadly, a lot of our Congressfolk think their crypto buddies are the future. They’re not – people and love are the future, like always – and we should regulate crypto so it does no harm, not let Congress go light on them.
Finally, Demand Progress helps you tell your Congressfolk to pass a War Powers Resolution that would end our involvement in the Saudi/UAE war on Yemen. Why are they waging war on Yemen? Because the Saudis didn’t like Yemen’s new government many years ago. Why didn’t they like the new one? Damned if I know, and I’ve tried to find out! Only things I can say are a) the war has driven Yemen to the brink of famine for many years and b) the Houthi rebels who are supposedly the Saudi/UAE coalition’s target are some of the best fighters against al-Qaeda in the world. But ask the Kurds how much grace such a title gets you. It’s almost like Our Glorious Elites want to keep the “war on terror” going. And that’s why we fight them.
