As Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) could be expelled from GOP House leadership today, Mitt Romney argues that such an expulsion will cost Republicans votes in 2022, but I doubt he's right about that. I'm sure he wishes that were the case, but Republican voters don't listen to Mitt Romney or his kind anymore -- half of them only listen to their Personal Lord and Savior Donald Trump now, and the other half go along with them, whether out of misguided loyalty or a sincere desire to hurt Democrats. What's good or right sure as hell won't enter into this nefarious calculus.
ProPublica describes what happened after an out-of-work event planner bought emergency health insurance in 2019, after substantial changes to health insurance regulation, and then got slammed with over $33,000 in surprise bills! You can read the article and say well, he should have read the fine print, but only if you read all the fine print you come across, which you don't, and anyway why would a $2,500 limit on surgical costs be in the fine print? Because anyone who's ever had surgery knows that every surgery costs a lot more than that, that's why? Folks, this is Trumpcare.
You won't be surprised to learn that the Trump Administration spied on three journalists who reported on Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election, but you may be surprised to learn that the Biden Administration defended that spying in court. Oh but we were investigating leaks, not reporters sounds like BS to most of America by now, hopefully, though I can see why this Justice Department only just notified the relevant news organizations of something that happened three years ago -- I mean, you didn't think the last Justice Department cared about following the law, did you? Still, remember that Joe Biden was Barack Obama's Vice President, and that Barack Obama was no friend to journalists, either.
As a federal panel stands ready to rename a bunch of racist place names in Texas, let's see how many rageheads defend them as a "vital" part of "history." But where were they when Candlestick Park became 3Com Park? Doesn't matter that 3Com bought it and thus "earned" the "right" to rename it -- Candlestick Park is a part of history! That's the argument! Seriously, if you had nothing to say about the renaming of Candlestick Park, you have no standing to oppose the re-naming of Negrohead Lake, let alone the long-overdue dismantling of Confederate hero statues.
When you read that "Election Researchers Reveal That Flexible Voting Options Boosted 2020 Turnout," you are reminded, I would hope, that even 2020 Presidential loser Donald Trump got 74 million votes, nearly five million more than the previous all-time Presidential vote getter (Barack Obama in 2008). I shouldn't have to remind you that Joe Biden got 81 million votes, of course, and I would advise that you ostracize anyone who gets triggered by these numbers.
Noted right-wing consultant Frank Luntz thinks Donald Trump's constantly whining about how he "won" the 2020 election will actually depress right-wing turnout in 2022. He's right that Donald Trump absolutely will be the nominee in 2024 if he wants to be, but he's wrong about his main point. Trumpholes won't read TEH 2020 ELECSHUNZ WAZ TEH STOLENZ!!!! as "it's no use voting" but as "let's all vote so they can't steal it this time." Why doesn't he see that? Maybe he does, and he's just trying to lull people into a false sense of security! Hey, I wouldn't put it past him. And he can always prove me wrong.
