Remember when Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) insisted that her yea vote for the notorious 2017 tax "reform" only came after winning some important concessions? Yeah, not so much -- she offered an amendment that would have closed that "carried interest" tax loophole, but then quickly withdrew it, voted yea anyway, and now gets buku bucks from banksters in her re-election effort. Hell of a story to drop less than a week before the election, amirite? And typical of her fake devotion to "bipartisanship."
On the 10th anniversary of the release of the Iraq War Logs via Wikileaks, Brett Wilkins at Common Dreams reminds us that while Julian Assange and Chelsea Manning still face abuse for their whistleblowing, the war's planners still escape punishment for their evil deeds. It's funny, except also not funny, how that works. And if Joe Biden gets elected and gets into that "looking forward" mood, we need to get all law-and-order on him.
Next time you hear that it's no use raising taxes on corporations because they know all the ways to dodge them, you can remind them that corporations often take tax breaks they already think are illegal but know they can run the clock out on the statute of limitations because our IRS doesn't have the money to catch them, as ITEP's Matthew Gardiner does here. In other words, instead of throwing up our hands because corruption is so hard to fight, let's fight corruption. That would be law-and-order of us, wouldn't it?
You've heard that our President walked out of his 60 Minutes interview in a huff? Well, wait until you get a load of how tough that interview wasn't, courtesy Julie Hollar at FAIR. Interviews of Messrs. Biden and Harris were, of course, no better, with all their BUT TEH SOSHULIZMZ!!!!! Personal to those who think it's disrepectful to call our President a "toddler": how about he stops acting like one? We do believe in treating people the way they deserve to be treated, right? Or is that too conservative for today's "conservatives"?
Owner of website that spawned the notorious QAnon conspiracy "theory" also controls a corporation that likely hosts actual child porn websites, meaning he's making money from child porn. Q believers no doubt see this as evidence that said owner has infiltrated the child-sex cabal that just so happens to involve every politician who doesn't agree with our President, and is thus using the cabal against them! Please remember that these folks will be the next Useful Idiots who win back the House for Republicans and rubber-stamp the corporate agenda.
Finally, speaking of Useful Idiots, Jared Kushner is also on a Bob Woodward tape saying, out loud, that our President was "getting the country back from the doctors" in mid-April and, further, replacing them with "more thoughtful people who kind of know their place." Which brilliant plan, as you know, has lately resulted in roughly 80,000 new cases and 1,000 deaths daily. There are many kinds of evil in the world, but perhaps none as bad as ignorant people who are arrogant about it. Hey, I think I said this all the time during the Bush years.
