Win Without War helps you tell your Congressfolk to refuse to fund our Department of Homeland (sic) Security (sic) until our President stops sending DHS officers to abuse protestors in our cities. Maybe our President pulled this stunt because he knew a DHS appropriations bill was coming up, but I'd take this bait, not just because he's wrong, and not just because funding DHS is our leverage here, but because beating up protestors is far less popular than he thinks. And the CRIMEZ IZ OUTZ OFZ TEH CONTROLZ!!!! and TEH ANARKITZ AREZ TEH ENEMIEZ COMBATANTZ!!!! narratives only enrage a small portion of the population -- that portion that either watches Fox News non-stop or think it's weakness to admit you've made a mistake in any of your political choices over the last 20 years. Those of us who understand that people who make such shows of "strength" are the real weaklings have a healthier view of this situation -- like, that sending federal jackboots to fight "crime" is something fascist countries do.
Meanwhile, the ACLU helps you tell Fairfax Financial Holdings CEO Prem Watsa to divest from America's for-profit bail industry. Why? Because cash bail is evil -- hey, if it puts folks in jail for months or years before they've had their day in court, that's evil! -- and also because Mr. Watsa has lately said all the right things about racial justice issues, even co-chairing a "Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism." If you're truly against "anti-black systemic racism," of course, you shouldn't invest in America's cash bail system. I've just described the problem any American would have if they didn't have the money to get out, but it just so happens that black men tend to get considerably higher bail amounts set for them than white men do! That's before we get to the whole "system overtargets black folks in the first place" part. No, black folks don't "commit more crime" than white folks do; they merely get targeted more by police, and they suffer more.
Finally, Free Press helps you tell Fox News to fire everyone's favorite bow-tied fascist, Tucker Carlson. I'd fire him for everything he's ever done, frankly, but just so happens a recent sexual harassment lawsuit names Mr. Carlson, among other Fox News "personalities," and while big corporations have been slow to help their workers make ends meet, they have been awfully quick to get rid of famous sexual harassers lately. And we can all name at least one famous Fox News bloviator who finally had to leave for the world of podcasting after the 2017 revelation that he'd spent almost $50 million to settle various sexual harassment lawsuits. We can only hope that, one day, we'll be able to render this current lot of corporate wannabe Nazis unnameable as well. In the meantime, let's at least have Mr. Carlson find new employment. No, pressuring corporations to fire people is not a violation of their First Amendment rights! Our First Amendment doesn't grant a "right" either to a platform or a multi-million dollar salary.
