A consortium of good government groups helps you tell our President and our Senate Majority Leader to end the government shutdown now. As I may have said, I don't oppose government shutdowns per se, but I oppose this shutdown, which our President has orchestrated not so he can protect America or end a humanitarian crisis, but so he can keep on diddling the rage glands of his votaries. And our House has passed several bills aiming at funding those areas of our government which are currently shutdown, but Mr. McConnell says no, because our President won't sign them, or because the bills aren't a result of negotiations between our President and the Democrats, or something. Of course, if a bill has 67 Senate votes, it doesn't matter if a President signs it or not. What's he afraid of? He should be afraid of losing re-election in 2020 as more good Kentuckians figure out he thinks he works for Our Glorious Elites and not them.
Meanwhile, Win Without War helps you tell your Congressfolk to investigate our President's deployment of military personnel at the southern border to "assist" with Border Patrol work. Turns out that using soldiers for domestic policing matters is just about always against the law per the famous Posse Comitatus Act, and never mind that Southern states pushed for such a law back in the day to get Reconstruction-era troops out of their hair, because keeping our law enforcement and our military separate is still a good idea, as anyone who thinks about it for a second will see. Our President, unfortunately, cuts the figure of someone who does not think about things even for one second -- he just says do it, and then one day the people who carry out his orders annoy him and he turns on them. You'd think more good Americans would know this by now. We'll just keep having to tell them.
