You just know right-wingers are going to squeal that since you oppose the Trump infrastructure "plan," you must hate American workers and job creation, right? Of course that's all bollocks, but they'll keep saying it even though it's bollocks, and besides, we do actually have opinions on rebuilding America's infrastructure, and CREDO helps you tell your Congressfolk to resist Mr. Trump's scam of an infrastructure proposal and support H.Con.Res. 63 instead. H.Con.Res. 63 is one of those "sense of Congress" resolutions, and I'd prefer a resolution that would actually empower Congress to do something rather than just say something, but the principles H.Con.Res. 63 espouses -- public investment over private, protecting clean air and clean water, investing in renewable energy, ensuring infrastructure can withstand disasters, and not gutting Medicare and Social Security to pay for it, among others -- are worth fighting for. So let's fight for them.
Meanwhile, we managed to beat back yet another attempt by poultry corporations to speed up chicken inspections, but the USDA seems determined to speed up pig inspections to the tune of 1300 pigs per hour, or about one pig every three seconds, which the USDA seems to think is plenty of time to detect pus or blood or poop before it becomes food. Of course, not only is that not enough time to detect bad stuff before it finds its way into your pork roll, it's also not enough time to humanely stun and kill a pig. These big corporations all want you to think we can tech our way out of doing the hard work of doing right by their workers and by the animals they kill, when all they really want is to make more money so their CEOs can gild the plumbing in their 19th vacation homes. But civilized people don't let corporate executives have all the say about everything, so Change.org helps you leave a public comment about the USDA's proposal to speed up pig slaughter.
