H.R. 3536/S. 1681 -- a Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT) production, respectively -- would prevent our government from funding new drug development with an entity until said entity agrees to sell whatever drugs they develop with our money at a fair price to Americans. You'd think that'd be common sense, but it's not, at least not anymore -- nowadays our politicians love funneling taxpayer money, our money, to their corporate cronies and then refusing to perform any oversight on their cronies' activities because TEH BIG GUMMINT!!!!! Of course, if you think of TEH BIG GUMMINT!!!!! as our government, which is supposed to work on our behalf, then you won't be as susceptible to arguments favoring corporate welfare. I suppose the will then tell us we'll never be able to develop a good drug again unless we let corporations gouge us, but that's the kind of rhetorical hostage situation that you, as a patriotic American, would find abhorrent. CREDO helps you tell your Congressfolk to support fairer drug pricing with taxpayer-funded drugs by supporting H.R. 3536/S. 1681.
Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior has finished its "review" of our national monuments, and you'll be pleased to know that Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has recommended that we not get rid of any of the ones reviewed. Strangely, however, he hasn't just come out and said which monuments he's proposed to reduce, though pretty much everyone thinks the two giant Utah monuments -- the Grand Staircase and Bears Ears monuments -- are high on the list. Now the Trump Administration may not have legal standing to reduce monuments (even though the President's authority to designate monuments comes from the Antiquities Act), but many in this reactionary Congress have spoken of the "need" to have more Congressional input into the monument-designating process, and what's to stop them from trying to repeal or gut the Antiquities Act, or grant the President the authority to get rid of monuments? Us, that's what -- the only thing that has ever stopped Congress from doing evil. So the Sierra Club helps you tell your Congressfolk to block the Trump Administration attack on public lands.
