James Trimarco, who writes extremely well on rural issues, discusses "The Cuts in Trump's Budget You Haven't Heard About" -- which include programs that create or support jobs in what Mr. Trump called the "forgotten" parts of the country. You know, I was actually heartened to see the "liberal" media wring their hands over how thoroughly it had forgotten the rural, blue-collar areas that went for Mr. Trump -- but now they've gone back to their blissful ignorance. That doesn't mean we have to, though.
Charles Ornstein at ProPublica reads a bunch of letters from lawmakers to their constituents on health care, and surprise! Those letters are full of lies. Lies range from TEH REGULASHUNZ HURTZ TEH HEALTH CAREZ!!!! (unproven and unlikely) and LOOK AT ALL TEH UNINSUREDZ UNDER TEH OBUMMERCAREZ!!! (which number has, of course, fallen under Obamacare) all the way to Obamacare creating a "Health Choices Commissioner" to deny you care (it didn't) or the talking point that three out of four state-run health care exchanges have failed (they haven't).
White supremacist kid kills elderly black man in New York City -- and the New York Daily News talks about the victim's arrest record! 11 arrests, over 66 years -- and if you noticed zero convictions, give yourself a prize. And then they remind everyone that a black guy drove up to NYC to kill some cops a few years ago, because balance. This Daily News report was so out there that an AOL News report based on it apparently figured the report must have meant the killer had the arrest record, and thus reported it as such!
Colorado right-wing radio shouter who claimed that only Democrats ever committed voter fraud gets charged with, guess what, voter fraud. For allegedly mailing in an absentee ballot for his ex-wife, no less, "vengeance is mine" not apparently being one of his favorite Biblical passages. OK, he hasn't been convicted yet, and may not be, but he sure did talk a lot of guff about how "there is something about being a Democrat" that just makes you want to commit ALL TEH CRIMEZ!!!!
Finally, because Republican politicians don't have a monopoly on stupidity, Sen. Schumer (D-NY) says the Senate shouldn't confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court until of all this FBI investigation of Mr. Trump's ties with the Russian government can get resolved. Jesus Mary and Joseph that is the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time, and that's saying something. Mr. Trump got elected, he now gets to pick the next Supreme Court Justice, and I hated all the Republicans' excuses for not voting on Mr. Garland, so why would I like this? Also, Democrats should have the cojones to reject Mr. Gorsuch's nomination on the merits.
