And it begins: major media outlets (even The Guardian, WTF?) are starting to remember George W. Bush a lot better than he deserves. I wouldn't blame you if you decided this is exactly the purpose of a President Donald Trump: to make an unregenerate opponent of civilization like George W. Bush look good. Presumably they'll be able to do the same for President Trump, once President Rabid Raccoon takes over.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions cites unnamed "expert" testimony that "there's violence around marijuana than one would think." It's not just that of course the Anti-Knowledge Administration listens to "experts" when they tell them what they want to hear, it's also that right-wingers have been pushing this tired trope ever since President Nixon decided that casting all hippies and civil rights protestors as drug addicts was the only way to fight them.
Please ignore all reports of "revolt" within the Republican camp over the Obamacare repeal bill. As always, this is not only theatre, but bad theatre. When it's time to do the deed, Republican leadership will excise the part defunding Planned Parenthood in order to appease Sens. Murkowski and Collins, and of course they'll allow folks like Justin Amash and Rand Paul to vote their "consciences," but the rest will do what they're told, likely without even being threatened. Of course, if we get all up in their grills again, that could change.
Here's some news you could use: an email phishing scam tricks you -- with a near-perfect replica of Google's login page -- into giving up your gmail password, and then ransacks your contacts for more addresses so it can steal more passwords. The clue, however, is in the address bar -- if it doesn't begin with "http://," it's a fake. The address bar in this particular scam begins "data:text/html." Always so much deflection and misdirection with scam artists! It's almost like there's a civics lesson in there somewhere.
Finally, President Trump cites fake terror plots in order to justify his Muslim Ban 2.0. No, he's not citing the "Bowling Green Massacre," but two-count-'em-two FBI sting operations resulting in convictions only after the FBI egged them on for months on end and gave them virtually everything they would have needed to carry out the attacks! Then he talks about hundreds of refugees being investigated, as if investigations equal convictions.
