Fast food CEO Andrew Puzder withdraws his nomination as Labor Secretary. I would not underestimate your agitation against his confirmation, though the "liberal" media does -- though I also wouldn't underestimate that decades-old Oprah video. Republican Senators are already doing too much complaining about "Democrat obstruction," though Democrats can't even filibuster these nominees! And, ah, "new thinking," "smear campaign," "the plight of businesses," "experience creating jobs"? We're gonna need a lot more shovels before all this is over.
Reed Richardson at FAIR notes that even as the "liberal" media has reported extensively on the Trump Muslim ban's faults, it still "parachutes into red-state diners, barbershops and grocery store parking lots to seek out Trump voters—and only Trump voters—to gauge their support for the ban." I would hate to think the "liberal" media panders to the most rage-addled Trump votaries out of fear these votaries will kill somebody if their fee-fees get hurt. And, as Mr. Richardson points out (it's a really exhaustive analysis), the "liberal" media has trouble finding Trump supporters who don't support the ban, though you don't need to be a quantum physicist to realize they must exist.
Kaléo Pharmaceuticals jacks up the price of an opioid OD-reversal drug by a little over 650 percent. Because what are you going to do if you need it, try something else? Folks who are tempted to say who cares, they're just drug addicts should more carefully consider the nature of addiction, which robs you not just of your ability to make good decisions, but also robs you of your God-given and Constitutional freedoms. And why should the "free market" dictate that some folks can afford live-saving medication and others can't?
In a related note, Marathon Pharmaceuticals -- which recently applied for, and received, approval to market an anti-muscular dystrophy drug -- has hiked the price of that drug, previously only available overseas and thus by import, over 7,000 percent. But don't worry: after you get all the rebates and discounts you can get for the drug, the price will drop from $89,000 annually to a mere $54,000! And since we were also just speaking of the "free" market, note well that Marathon didn't do any of the research or development on this life-preserving drug. So, other than being in the right place at the right time, what, exactly, did they do to "earn" all this money?
Finally, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, says the real story about Mr. Flynn's resignation is "you have an American citizen who had his phone calls recorded." Hoo boy. Of course Mr. Nunes voted for the FISA Amendments Act, and more recently excoriated Rep. Amash (R-MI) as "al-Qaeda's best friend in Congress" because of Mr. Amash's opposition government surveillance. I found both those data points in less than 30 seconds. Don't they know this is the future?
