Demand Progress helps you tell the Department of Justice to investigate Donald Trump for bribery, relating to his donation to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi in 2013 right around the time she was deciding whether to investigate Trump University. You all know the timeline by now: Ms. Bondi's office began investigating Trump University and the Trump Institute for fraud in late 2013; then she made a phone call to Mr. Trump, and Mr. Trump donated $25,000 to her PAC -- and then Ms. Bondi's office dropped the Trump investigation. Is it likely that Ms. Bondi and Mr. Trump actually discussed a quid pro quo arrangement on the phone? No, it is not. Is the timing still so suspicious you'd feel like a schmuck if you didn't investigate such a charge involving the man who said not long ago that when you give money to politicians, "they do whatever the hell you want them to do"? Yes, it is. Do not be the one to protest that such an investigation would be unprecedented, as if Donald Trump himself hasn't been unprecedented in all kinds of bad ways -- and, ah, as if Hillary Clinton hadn't just been investigated for her emails.
Meanwhile, Casey Jones of Atlantic Beach, FL, has begun a petition on Change.org which helps you tell the city of Atlantic Beach to require beachfront homeowners to turn their lights off at night during sea turtles' hatching periods. I'm sure that sounds a bit obscure, so here's some background: baby sea turtles hatch at night on land, and then instinctively head toward the moon, thus making it to their natural home in the ocean, but if baby sea turtles see a light on in someone's window, they head toward that instead, and then they won't make the ocean, and get eaten by predators on land (like crabs). All five species of sea turtles indigenous to Florida are endangered, and they hatch from May to October. Such ordinances protecting sea turtles have already passed on two neighboring beaches in Florida (Jacksonville Beach and Neptune Beach, so it's not crazy to assume it can be done. Of course, those homeowners inclined to throw a don't-tread-on-me tantrum every time they don't get their way won't be impressed with any of these arguments. But they don't get all the say about everything in America.
