State Department bumps Malaysia and Cuba up a level in its annual "Trafficking in Persons" report -- which just so happens to ensure that Malaysia will be able to sign the TPP. As stunning as it is that the Obama Administration has affirmed that the Trans-Pacific "Partnership" is more important than human life and human freedom, it's also stunning that Cuba can get a bump up a level despite, in our government's own words, not recognizing its forced-labor problem. We know why that's happening, too, but really.
FAIR's Janine Jackson interviews the Center for Media and Democracy's Brendan Fischer about the campaign finance issues surrounding Gov. Scott Walker. Long story short, from Ms. Jackson: "it sounds as though the charge was that Walker actively sought to skirt finance laws and that the (Wisconsin Supreme Court's recent) ruling is: Yes, he did, but it’s OK." Also n.b. the part where the Washington Post calls breaking the law a "workaround." That's our "liberal" media at work.
Lou Dubose at the Washington Spectator finds plenty of right-wing swordfighting going on at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference last month. This Republican Presidential candidate has a moment of silence, the next one does a three-minute prayer; this one says he knows how to deal with ISIS, the next one says he'll be a "wartime President"; this one says he'll protect the unborn, the next one says he signed a law outlawing abortion at 20 weeks, this one says he's against gay marriage, the next one flat-out makes up entire Supreme Court arguments to demonstrate he's more against it -- it's all quite ridiculous, and no, this never happens on the left, mainly because most liberal politicians are too timid to actually do anything.
Don't give the Boy Scouts of America too much credit for repealing the ban on gay Scout leaders at the national level, because BSA will still allow local Boy Scout chapters to ban gays. For religious reasons, of course. These folks better hope nobody ever starts a religion that demands that we all oppress Republicans. Oppress for real, I mean, since they seem to think that not getting everything they want all the time equals "oppression."
Finally, Franklin "the Lesser" Graham says we should end all immigration of Muslims to the U.S. until we can "settle" the "threat with Islam." Rev. Graham has apparently decided that getting more attention for himself and parading his manhood around are both more important than his charity's relationships with the countries it serves. And if his charity does suffer, he won't say it's God's will -- he'll just blame the liberals.
