Factcheck.org tells us why it's absolute rubbish that "more people get government food than actually work." Long story short: you have to lie to prove that. It's sad that refuting the other side's arguments is like shooting fish in a barrel these days. I preferred it when it was more difficult.
Salon's Joshua Holland interviews The Terror Factory author Trevor Aaronson, who alleges that most of our government's "foiled terrorist attacks" are really our own government's sting operations. Reminds me of when Paul Craig Roberts wondered why, if our government has a million people on do-not-fly lists, we don't suffer terrorist attacks by the dozen.
Jenny McCarthy joins The View, replacing Elizabeth Hasselbeck. But I ask you: did Ms. Hasselbeck put in hard time at the "University of Google" and convince a sizable chunk of young parents to forego vaccines so they could avoid having children with autism, just like hers, except now he's somehow "cured"? No, Jenny McCarthy did all that. You all know that the vaccines-cause-autism thing is crap-with-crap-sauce, right? And that it's helped bring back scourges we thought we'd whipped, like whooping cough? "Fun" and "uninhibited" and "opinionated" my ass.
Finally, consider this about the Zimmerman verdict: the Sanford police weren't even going to investigate Trayvon Martin's death, until Mr. Martin's family put a petition up on change.org demanding an investigation, and over two million good folks signed it. So instead of thinking it's now "open season on black boys," I wonder how many Trayvon Martins have already died over the years, in complete silence, in an undeclared "open season." This jury may have exonerated Mr. Zimmerman, but Mr. Zimmerman is also the most hated man on the planet right now, and while some of his kind will be even more eager to confront some "menace" on their "watch," I think many more will wilt before the prospect of being completely shunned by family, friends, neighbors, and countryfolk. So I have no doubt that the Martin family has saved lives -- and if you demanded to see light shine on this case, so have you.
