Tea Party caller suggests the best way to get Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) to "listen" on immigration reform is to "shoot her." I eagerly await rebuke from Sarah Palin and other self-anointed members of the Civility Police. How long before Susan Collins decides, like Olympia Snowe, that she's had enough of all this shit?
2010 Alaska Republican Senate nominee Joe Miller files papers to run for the 2014 Alaska Senate election. Mark Begich must be seriously hoping he wins, and not just because he's a clown -- he's also a man whose stated political philosophy stands at odds with Alaska citizens' desire to have their Senators bring home the bacon.
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) announces that this term will be her last term in the House. Adds that it has nothing to do with all those pesky ethics charges or to her close election in 2012 or to the fool she's generally made of herself. Democrats aren't too happy, as her retirement takes away their putative candidate's main campaign issue, but the rest of us are happy, because we're always happy when embarrassing people leave our government. Though she could take on Al Franken in 2014, I suppose.
Finally, a study finds that a soda drinking habit can be as bad or worse on your teeth as a meth or coke habit. (The American Beverage Association, perhaps not surprisingly, disputes the study.) But cocaine and meth have other problems! you might be tempted to say. Soda does, too -- diabetes, obesity, the taxpayer money spent keeping high-fructose corn syrup cheap not going to address our lousy economy and our failing infrastructure, to name three.
