As you know, PA Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson put the state's Voter ID law on hold -- but only for the 2012 election. Thus signon.org helps you tell PA state legislators and PA Gov. Corbett to repeal the Voter ID law before the 2013 elections. Voter ID laws wind up disenfranchising poor folks, minorities, and seniors more than anyone else, because these are the folks who face the most trouble getting a photo ID. Were you born in a poor neighborhood decades ago, for example? Well then, your hospital didn't give you a birth certificate, which means you don't get a Voter ID. Plus Voter ID laws don't solve an actual problem -- as you may recall, Tha Bush Mobb's Justice Department hunted high and low for voter fraud, and how many instances of voter fraud did they find between 2002 and 2007? 86 -- out of over 300 million votes cast. Naturally, the politicians seem to worry about everything but the things they should worry about.
Speaking of which, CREDO helps you tell the Pennsylvania legislature to pass a moratorium on fracking. If you went to any of the recent anti-fracking rallies and heard the multitudinous stories of good folks getting brown water from their tap and getting sick off their tap water and water becoming gelatinous if it stayed out too long, well, those stories would stay with you. And you'd have to wonder why gas drillers would do that to our water supply -- after all, they're people too, right, and they have to drink the same water we drink, don't they? Well, I suppose they could drink bottled water -- or they could live in Montgomery and Bucks counties, specifically exempted from the infamous gas drilling regime by budget legislation passed in June. So Republicans have essentially said that folks who live in the T aren't worth a damn, which is exactly what they accuse us of thinking. Nobody could have predicted that!
