Montgomery and Bucks counties have been exempted from Pennsylvania's notorious gas drilling bill -- meaning, essentially, that these counties will be able to stop gas drilling at will. The Republicans' hold on Montgomery and Bucks have been tenuous in recent years; I'm sure these exemptions have nothing to do with that. But the exemptions represent a stunning admission -- that Republicans know gas drilling is dangerous, and they don't care, unless it gives them some political advantage.
Sen. McConnell (E-KY) says 30 million uninsured is "not the issue" in re health care. He has no idea how he sounds to normal people and as long as our "liberal" media covers everything like it's a damn sports match he'll have no incentive to change. "He sounds like that because he's a politician trying to win," folks say -- but is it moral for politicians to sound like that? That interview got even worse, by the way.
Greg Palast, America's Last Journalist, tells us that, contrary to what you might think, the Euro actually works -- in exactly the way its makers intended it to work, that is: a government with its own currency (i.e., one like ours) can inject that currency into the economy in times of trouble, but any other government has to wipe away regulations on business just to keep people employed. Of course, that means America's economy should be doing a lot better -- and that its restraints are self-imposed, as much by Mr. Obama as by Congressional Republicans.
